Community Garden
The Belvedere Community Garden (Est. 2013)
The (29) 5'x10 garden plots are located on the west side of Belvedere off Cole Street and Colvin Alley, down the hill towards the railroad tracks. Homeowners and renters may apply for a plot. Contact Kate Soderman for more information.
Gardeners & Guests: Please keep in mind the following rules & guidelines:
- No pets are allowed inside the fence.
- Always lock the gate when you leave. Deer are all around!
- This is an organic garden. Please do not use non-organic chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, etc., including sprays, powders, and pellets. Check all product labels for organic certification.
- You are responsible for keeping your plot and all surrounding walkways clear of weeds & mulched when needed.
- Garden workdays will be scheduled a few times per year, when extra maintenance is needed. Every gardener is expected to participate in the work day or, if unable to make it at the scheduled time, spend an hour on garden maintenance within 14 days of the workday.
- Please do not touch plants in anyone else’s plot without their permission.
- Do not leave trash, empty planters, broken tools, discarded stakes, etc., in the garden. Put weeds outside the garden, away from the back fence, in the brush towards the train tracks.
- You assume full responsibility for damage to or loss of tools left in your plot(s). Tools up against the front fence are assumed to be available for common use.
- All gardeners are asked to help weed along the inside perimeter of the fence and on the steps as needed.
- Your plot is yours until you give it up or stop maintaining it.
- If your plot becomes overgrown with weeds, you will be asked to clean it within a specified timeframe. If your plot is not cleaned, it may be given to someone else.
- A waitlist is kept for those interested in having a plot at the Garden. When one gardener gives up their plot, it goes to the first person on the waitlist. Note, only homeowners that pay HOA dues will be considered.
